A DIY hair mask you can make right at home, this moisture-rich hair treatment is made with nutrient-rich avocados, raw honey and organic jojoba oil.

Warm Avocado DIY Hair Mask

Made with ripe avocados, raw honey and jojoba oil, his ultra-hydrating, anti-frizz treatment helps restore moisture and softness to dry, brittle or damaged hair.

Perfect for dry, bleached or over processed hair, this deep-moisturizing mask features the natural oils from fresh avocados, plus rich, organic jojoba oil. A hydrating oil from the jojoba desert plant, joboba oil is very similar in consistency to your scalp’s sebum and lightly coats the hair to help smooth the individual strands and reduce frizzing. We add raw honey for its humectant and shine-boosting properties. You can also top off this mixture with 2-3 drops of lavender essential oil for its scalp-soothing properties and calming, floral scent.

We recommend warming the mask This homemade DIY mask for dry, damaged hair nourishes and moisturizes with simple, natural ingredients.slightly and using a hair dryer during part of the application. The gentle heat helps open the hair cuticle (the outer layers of the hair shaft) for better absorption of the nutrients and moisturizers. An old-fashioned bonnet hair dryer works best for this, but you can get a similar effect using a regular blow dryer set to warm. Try this mask once a week to add softness, manageability and shine to dry, damaged or frizzy hair. You’ll be amazed at the beautiful results! Note: This hair mask is very moisturizing. If your hair tends to be oily, this treatment may not be well-suited for your hair type.

Ingredients

(If your hair is well past shoulder length, you’ll want to double the recipe.)

Meat from one ripe avocado

2 Tbsp. organic jojoba oil

2 Tbsp. raw honey

2-3 drops lavender essential oil (optional)

Combine all ingredients in a microwave-safe bowl. Blend well using an immersion blender or food processor until mask has a creamy, smooth consistency. Heat mask slightly by microwaving it in 15-second increments until warm to the touch, but not too hot.

Thoroughly wet hair with warm water, then pat dry with a towel to remove excess moisture. Spread mask onto hair and work it through with your fingers or a hair coloring brush, focusing on the ends. Once hair is well saturated with the mask, tuck it into the shower cap.

If using a bonnet hair dryer, you can put it on over the shower cap at this point, set to very warm, and keep it on for 15 minutes. If using a regular hair dryer, blow the warm air all around the shower cap for 15 minutes. Turn off hair dryer and leave mask on for an additional 15 minutes. Rinse well, then shampoo and condition hair as usual.
